HMS Daring
Between 22nd May - 26th May 2009 the world's most sophisticated Warship chose Liverpool as it's first official civillian port of call. These photos were taken on 24th May 2009 during a tour of the ship.

HMS Daring is an anti-air warfare Destroyer Type 45.
She has 190 personnel on board and weighs 5,800 tonnes.
Her radar is capable of tracking a target the size of a cricket ball travelling at three times the speed of sound.
She can fire multiple missiles at a time and each one to a different target.
Her hypersonic misiles can reach Mach 4.5 (five times the speed of sound) in just two seconds.
She is the seventh ship to bear the name Daring and was launched at the BAE Systems shipyard in Scotstoun on February 1st 2006 by HRH the Countess of Wessex.
She is the first frontline warship to use all-electric propulsion and her gas turbines produce 47MW of electricity, enough to power 70,000 homes.
The ship can operate either the Lynx or the Merlin Helicopter and can also drop torpedoes.
Her main weapon system is the Sea Viper Missile System and the 4.5" MK8 Gun is used to provide naval gunfire support at ranges up to 22km.
The guided tour we went on didn't allow you access to the bridge and we weren't allowed to take photos in the control room. We were led through a series of alleyways that had wall-to-wall cables, the odd cabin and sick-bay and then out onto the gun-deck. I suppose on a warship of this magnitude most of it was top-secret, but we did think we would see a little bit more than we did.
